Carles Riba - MONTV Director Barcelona-born, Carles has lived in Monmouthshire for over 12 years. He is an accomplished audio engineer, and sound specialist consultant with 25 years experience designing studios and implementing audio systems for the television and audio-visual facilities industries. Carles is also a prolific composer and a Director of Planet X Publishing Ltd. which provides internet solutions and supplies bespoke music to the majority of UK television channels including BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and FIVE.
... It was on a rainy day in May 2004, on a Monmouthshire golf course, when Carles Riba, Richard Waterstone and Rob Sullivan dreamed up the MONTV project. After several pitfalls and a few setbacks MONTV successfully launched on the 2nd of February 2008. Richard Waterstone - MONTV Director Richard started his career as a writer – working for Marie Claire magazine, the BBC and publishers in London such as Routledge, Macmillan and DBP. Richard’s book ‘India’ sold over 100,000 copies in all editions and has been translated into most world languages. It has been given five stars by Amazon’s readers. Richard also wrote several titles for the Timescape: Land and History series published by 3Stones in the late 1990s; and the short film FERTILE GROUND, which opened the International Film Festival of Wales. Richard then trained as a producer, producing two more short films and working for CF1 – Britain’s largest regional production company, before forming his own film production company – Waterstone Westwood – which is just about to go into production on its first feature film – Elephants of the Okavango, a £3 million feature distributed by Content Film. Richard has lived near Monmouth for over ten years, and is a co-founder and hard worker at MONTV!
Rob Sullivan - Trainer, Director
Sharon Chilcott - Public Relations and Sales CoordinatorRob Fairlie - Senior Producer, Camera, Editor At 18, Rob had his first job in the television industry, Working for The children’s Channel on a live show at Alton towers. After graduating from Southampton Uni with a degree in Economics and Philosophy, He went back into tv in a variety of roles including floor manager, Researcher, QC / QA. Unhappy with the corporate nature of broadcast he branched out making short films, One of which won best UK film at MIFED 2004 and best cinematography – Wreck beach international film festival 2004. Working as a consultant and project developer in London more recently seeking a change of work and location, he moved to Monmouth in 2007. Following his passion for making films, joined the MONTV Family at the beginning of the year. As a seasoned traveler, he has spent 7 months driving round Africa in a ’78 VW campervan. Last year spent 6 months in South east Asia where he followed a passion for scuba diving and became a Dive master.
Gabriel Riba - Computer and Web TechnologistGabriel, brother of MONTV Director Carles Riba, has been a computer programmer since 1974, when personal computers barely existed, and has experience and knowledge on a broad range of systems. He is also a Brainbench certified Web Administrator and developer. Gabi looks after the backend programming of MONTV and is a fan of open standards on computing and quality programming through functional languages. Go Linux Go! Mickey Richardson - Producer, Camera, EditorCharlotte Hancocks - Presenter, Co-ordinator, PR and SalesCharlotte attended performing arts school in Hertfordshire where she qualified to teach tap - a hobby she still enjoys! She then ventured to the Big Smoke, but after discovering that the streets weren't paved with gold, she left the country to explore India. She then gained a degree in Community Drama before returning to London to follow a career in television. After a couple of years the travelling bug set in again and off she went to Thailand to Scuba Dive and work with Elephants. Charlotte now enjoys being back in her home town of Monmouth where her family have lived for generations. Bleddyn Richards, Presenter
Bleddyn, a Monmouth volunteer presenter with MONTV, has had strong connections with the county for over 30 years. After 20 years working in the leisure and film industries, he established himself as a freelance public relations and marketing consultant. As well as travelling the world working for many bluechip clients, he was Director of Special Projects for Richard Branson and organised his hot air balloon flight with Per Lindstrand across the Pacific Ocean in 1992. Since then he has concentrated on writing and performing music, creating copy for advertising and websites and contributing articles to many local publications. He was Chairman of Monmouth Festival 95-96 and headed the team that raised its profile, turning it into the most successful 9-day music event in Southeast Wales. Mandi O'Neill - Coordinator, Producer Paul Minaur - Presenter, Finance Director Born in Australia to a Welsh Mother and an English Father, and with a Spanish surname, Paul was brought up in the West Highlands of Scotland! After a couple of years at Art & Design College he started to work in sales and spent several years working in London, predominantly as an Asset Finance Broker, before moving to Monmouthshire in 2000. He started Minaur Corporate Finance in 1999 while still in London. MCF arrange all types of business finance for organisations ranging from start up one man bands to established household names. As you can tell, he likes food, also travelling and occasionally plays golf very badly...

I got into filming when travelling in New Zealand, bought my first camera and began recording my journey. On returning i edited the footage on a dying PC and was really taken by the process of editing! I applied at the International Film School of Wales in Newport and enrolled on the Documentary Film and Television BA course in 2005. This year has been my most exciting yet, I filmed a clown convention and parade in Bogner Regis, a Japanese wedding in downtown Tokyo. Bob Geldof being caught unawares at Hay Festival, Britain's biggest taxidermist in Somerset, a Harley Davidson funeral with full entourage, The UK dancehall queen in a sweaty circus tent in Bologna Italy, now I'm off to Las Vegas to film a cardiff dance group aged 8-12, try to become world champions! Brian is a volunteer editor with MONTV, and lived in The Narth, five miles south of Monmouth, for over 22 years. Brian spent most of his career in industry, and for 13 years was running his own graphic design and printing company in Cardiff. He retired in 2005 after selling the business, and now can spend a bit more time relaxing and being with his wife Trish, their three daughters, and their new grandson! He is a keen amateur photographer and edits his own homes movies onto CD’s; which sparked his interest in helping MON-TV with their editing – and is loving every minute of it! Darcy Mahoney - Producer, CameraRauri Lane - Producer, Camera, EditorJay RyanCatherine Fookes - Presenter, Content contributor Catherine is a freelance writer, researcher and campaigner on food, farming & environmental issues. Currently she is writing a major report into nursery school food in England and Wales for Organix and the Soil Association as well as organising the Abergavenny Food Festival's Children's Food Academy. She is also a Government adviser on organic farming standards, sitting as a consumer member on Defra's "Advisory Committee on Organic Standards" (ACOS) and works as a consultant on various projects for F3, the local food consultants, and Sustain: the alliance for better food and farming. For five years she worked at the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Office in Monmouth, promoting local food.
